RCACN is an abbreviation for “Radio Control Armor Club Network”. It is pronounced as “R-Can”.

RCACN’s main focus has been the development, organization, and hosting of “Battle Days”. The Battle Days are events were tankers come together, talk, see each other’s tanks, and simulate tank combat. These events are intended to be like mini R/C tankers conventions. The Battle Days are intended to be fun events that will attract new people to the hobby and keep people interested in the hobby. Also these Battle Days are intended to be open to the public to participate in and observe.

From the experience of clubs visiting other club’s Battle events in the past it became clear that each club conducted it’s battles differently with each club having a different set of rules. From the first days of the start of RCACN we understood that to organize events we would have to have a standardized set of rules. From the experience of past Battle Days and a technical study of the capabilities of the Tamiya Battle Unit, a set of commonly agreed upon set of rules was developed that encouraged battles with as much historical accuracy as possible within the technical limitations of the Tamiya system and still have fun.

RCACN is a coalition of independent armor clubs. What does this mean: Each club is an independent entity unto itself. Each club organizes, meets, and governs themselves. This means that clubs can and do have Battle Days using their own rules. However, if a member club hosts an RCACN Battle Day event they must use the commonly agreed upon set of RCACN rules. Basically this means that if an event is listed as an RCACN event it must use RCACN rules.

RCACN was formed around established clubs. The reason was it was thought that when trying to organize things such as Battle Days, it required a great deal of work and resources. This was seen as beyond most all individual’s capabilities. Also individuals may come and go but established clubs generally stay. RCACN is not against individuals. However it was decided that for the best chance of organizational success, RCACN would be based on established clubs because for a club to become established it had to have a degree of successful organizational ability. Plus established clubs have more built-in resources available. This organizational philosophy has served RCACN well and we have had a great deal of success with it. So for the foreseeable future the core of RCACN will be based on established clubs.

RCACN also believes that the best support system for the people in this hobby is the local club. As part of this belief RCACN intends to encourage the formation of local clubs across the world. But individuals are not shunned. Individuals will be welcomed to all RCACN events.

RCACN is not scale exclusive to 1/16 & 1/15. Members also have 1/35, 1/25, 1/10, 1/8, & 1/6 scale R/C armor. But the vast majority of members have 1/16 & 1/15 scale R/C armor so that is currently the main focus of the Battle Days.

The organizing of Battle Days maybe the main focus of RCACN but it is not the only focus we have. RCACN is interested in the support of anything that helps the hobby grow and become better for all (members and non-members). This includes supporting publications, websites, and forums geared towards R/C armor and the modification of R/C armor models and the development of new R/C armor models. In general RCACN intends to be an organized support network for the R/C armor hobby.
